Community Guide

Your Guide to the Keyfactor Community

Whether you're here to solve a tricky problem, share something you've built, explore use cases, or connect with peers — there are many ways to get involved. This guide will help you navigate the community and get the most out of your membership.

Start with Search

Before posting, take 30 seconds to search. Our search surfaces results across community discussions, the Keyfactor Knowledge Base, product documentation, GitHub, and more — so the answer you need may already be there.

You can also type a natural language question or prompt to get an AI-generated answer drawn from existing community conversations. If you find a helpful answer, give it a Like — it helps the next person find it faster and shows appreciation for your fellow members.

Navigating the Community

The Top Navigation Bar appears throughout the community, giving you quick access to key areas at any time.

Community Categories are your home for discussions with Keyfactor users, partners, and experts. Ask questions, share insights, and join conversations to help and learn from fellow members.

When you're ready to post, you have two options:

  • Ask a Question — when you have a specific problem or need an answer

  • Start a Conversation — when you want to discuss a topic, explore recommended practices, or hear how others are approaching something

How to Ask a Great Question

The community works best when you bring context. The more specific you are, the faster and more useful the responses you'll get. Posts that attract the most helpful replies tend to have a few things in common:

  • Start in the right category — make sure your post is in the most relevant product or topic space

  • Write a specific, descriptive title — summarize the problem clearly. Tip: It’s often easiest to write the title last

  • Describe what you're trying to do — focus on your goal and desired outcome, not just the error or symptom

  • Share what you've already tried — this saves time and shows you've put in the effort

  • Include relevant context — product version, platform, environment, error messages, or screenshots

Note: Please do not share any private, confidential, or sensitive information in your posts.

Mark Your Best Answer

When a reply solves your problem, mark it as the Best Answer. This has two important benefits:

  1. It helps future members — others searching the same topic will immediately find the most helpful response

  1. It rewards contributors — marking a best answer grants points to the person who helped you, encouraging experts to keep contributing

As a bonus, you'll also earn 10 points for marking an answer, helping you climb the leaderboard and earn badges.

Like helpful topics and replies along the way

See a post or response that's helpful, insightful, or spot-on? Use the Like button to show it! It's a quick, easy way to recognize good content and help surface valuable posts for other members — and it only takes a second.

We'd ask that you hold off on adding a comment that simply says "I agree" or "thanks" — save those reactions for the Like button instead. Here's why: many members subscribe to threads and get a notification every time a new comment is posted. Before you comment, ask yourself — would I want to receive a notification for this response? If the answer is "probably not," a Like is the better move. If you've got something substantive to add — a follow-up question, additional context, a different perspective — that's exactly what comments are for.

You Don't Have to Be an Expert to Contribute

New members make a difference too. Sharing what didn't work for you is just as valuable as sharing what did. Every contribution — a question, a reply, a like — makes the community more useful for the next person. Remember: we're all beginners at something. Be generous, be kind, and jump in.

Community vs. Other Keyfactor Resources

The community is a powerful resource — but it's one of several. Use the community for knowledge sharing and conversations with other users. If you're experiencing product issues, require assistance from a Keyfactor Support Engineer, or have deployment requests, please open a ticket via the Support Portal.

Here's a simple guide to help you find the right place for what you need:

If you need…

Best resource

Recommended practices (“How do others handle this?”), peer input and experiences (“Has anyone run into this?”), discover content, and quick answers to questions ("How do I…?")

Keyfactor Community

Official product documentation — configuration, installation, release notes, troubleshooting, integrations. Note: The community also surfaces content from our product documentation sites as part of the community search.

Product Documentation

Support for product incidents, questions needing account-specific context, bugs, unexpected behavior, access requests, or formal support

Keyfactor Support Portal

Self-paced courses, learning paths, and certifications. Note: The community also surfaces content from Keyfactor University as part of community search so you can discover relevant courses.

Keyfactor University

A good rule of thumb: If it's specific to your account or requires a Keyfactor employee to take action — contact Support. If it's something others could help you think through — the community is your best bet.

Events

Events are your opportunity to connect and learn in real time. Find webinars, office hours with Keyfactor experts, live product updates, webinars, and in-person events.

View upcoming events

Product Updates

Stay current on everything new with Keyfactor products. The Product Updates page is your first stop for the latest releases, feature announcements, and roadmap previews.

Subscribe to Product Updates so you're always among the first to know when something new drops.

Complete Your Profile

A complete profile makes a real difference. Members with full profiles — including a photo or logo, job title, industry, and product details — get faster, more tailored replies because other members can immediately understand their context. Think of your profile as the first line of every question you'll ever ask.

To update your profile:

  1. Click your avatar or name in the upper right corner and select My Profile

  1. Click Edit Profile and update your information

  1. Set your Notification preferences to stay in the loop on replies, mentions, and subscriptions

  1. Click Save Changes

Note: Profile visibility settings are configurable — check your privacy settings to control what others can see.

One Last Thing

The community is what you make it. One great answer you leave today could help dozens of members over the next year. If you have feedback on how to make this space better — we're always listening.

Drop any questions about navigating the community in the comments below — we're here to help!
